RANONG FIELD GUIDE

North or south of Ranong: choose a direction for the day

Separate Kra Buri and La-Un from the Kapoe and Suk Samran direction, then choose stops around your transport and available time.

Avoid opposite directions in one short day

Start with your actual accommodation on the map. From town, choose a northbound or southbound day. Crossing back through town to collect more sights can consume the time meant for meals and rest.

North: Kra Buri and stops along the way

Kra Isthmus, Thap Li and Gong Valley offer starting points for a Kra Buri route. Adding a La-Un viewpoint needs a separate check of the access road and extra time. Straight-line map distance is not driving distance.

South: Kapoe and Suk Samran

For beaches, communities or the Laem Son area, first check the entrance and current services at the selected stop. Offshore islands require a boat arrangement; they are not roadside stops like mainland beaches.

Choose a host who knows the area

For community activities, ask about group size, language, walking, toilets and host availability. For a vehicle with driver, agree on pickup, drop-off, waiting time and the exact route before agreeing to a price.
